resetting high scores....do you do it? if so, how often?

hey fellas....just curious as to whether or not you guys that have had your pins for an extended period of time ever reset the high scores. i have yet to do so, but i've only had most of mine for about a year.

i had my 4th annual poker/march madness shindig yesterday and this is the first time i've had multiple pins for the gathering. the pins got TONS of play......between 15 dudes (including myself...and i played less than 5 games as i was the host), i had 407 total plays on my 5 working pins (unfortunately had 2 on the disabled list. lol). several high scores fell, which is cool with me (gives me something to play for), but i'm worried that the next time these dudes come to the house they may not play as much if their initials are still somewhere on the leader board.

thinking about resetting the high scores every year right before my shindig (which is always on the first weekend of march madness).

thoughts? do y'all do that?

thanks for any advice.

oh, and for anyone interested, the plays break down like this:

black rose - 116

south park -112

who dunnit - 75

star wars - 58

starship troopers - 46

unfortunately, my deal for a RFM fell through right before the shindig. dangit.

I haven't owned my pins very long but I reset the high score when I first get it going. We will see in time. Probably wont ever do it again unless something causes a false high score. Like a stuck switch.

yeah....i reset all of mine pretty low when i first get them. i don't care what factory defaults are. i just want mine and my friends names on the high score list.

i'm just wondering how long it'll take me to get bored with the same 'ole high scores.....my friends too. i mean, if i or one of my friends sets the bar uber-high on one of my pins, is there gonna be as much incentive to play it again? i like playing just for the fun of it.......but i also like making runs at the high score table.

my friends and I have always been very competitive with pretty much everything we do, so in my opinion i would think no that it wouldnt ever get boring seeing the same score, it would irritate me until i beat it and vice versa for my friends. i think if i got tired of seeing the same score and it made me not want to play any more would be more i was just tired of playing that game. everyone is different though. i just enjoy playing pinball as well.

I try to reset the scores before bigger parties, but only on machines that keep the grand champion scores, or the top top score. :)

I usually reset the scores when I get a game (or they get reset to factory due to issues) but I never do it again after that. It's best to always leave some good scores on there for people to shoot for.

thanks wade.

yeah.....i always reset the high scores when i get a new game. i probably take it a bit further than most, as i make them ridiculously low.......i want my pins to have scores only from myself and my friends.

do you find that NOT resetting the scores periodically reduces people's desire to play the pins? for most folks, i think they just want to play the pins.....bat the ball around a bit. but i have two friends that play the pins semi-regularly and i don't want them to shy away from playing just because a score is too high...

that's my only concern. like i said earlier, i've only had my "pin row" for a year or so......that's why i wanted the opinions of some folks that have had them for a while.

Well, everybody's different, but it never stopped anyone from wanting to play my pins to my knowledge. It just made them really happy if they did get on the board because then there were no excuses. I think the same goes for most of the guys in our local game club. We just leave them on to give other people something to shoot for. I guess at some point we might need to reset if some scores stay up there long enough, but that's never really been a problem.
