It's a Williams gamewhats up with both of your sinimmortals (sp?) tables being corrupt?
nice
whats up with both of your sinimmortals (sp?) tables being corrupt?
That or it had a switching power supply. Or the men protect switch is bypassed. Or both. The operators at Bragging Rights power off everything all at once when they close. Not sure if that's healthy for the equipment in the long run, especially since it nukes the high score table on Sinistar. That might also explain why the screen has garbage on the left and why the speech board is silent.

Hi everyone, sorry for the necropost.
I finally have the Sinistar documentary script completed and all of the narration has been recorded. Now I'm currently editing the video.
Much like retargeting the codebase, this video is one of my most ambitious projects; it's going to be over two hours long and features other Williams games like Joust and Star Rider since they share some crew members. I estimate that the whole thing will be finished around March or April, if things work out.
There's a lot of new stuff in here that hasn't been seen before including the original Juggernaut design documents and Williams engineering logbooks from the Strong Museum.
...but there's a problem. In order to show the Strong Muesum scans in the video, I need some funding for the licensing and rights to these images. I didn't want to make a fundraiser but with my current situation, I feel that I have no choice but to humbly ask for your help. Any left over money will go towards other (more important) stuff like rent and food.

Donate to Funds needed for documentary and rent, organized by Syna Max
Hi everyone, this is SynaMax. I am starting a fundraiser for two reasons: 1) I'm cu… Syna Max needs your support for Funds needed for documentary and rentgofund.me
Regardless, I'm very excited to finish this project and upload it for everyone to view. I'm also working on a new Sinistar mod that will go for a more refined difficulty tuning since the previous verison feels too easy for me now, lol.
Thanks again for all your support and encouragement with these mods and projects, it really means a lot to me.
You are welcome to use any images from Pinball PA for both Sinistar upright and cockpit models free of charge. Why are you getting charged for this?
sending a pm in a sec.other prototypes Williams were working on right before a lot of people were laid off
Pinball PA also has a Star Rider sit down in their shop. Doesn't always work, mainly because it never really always did! Thanks, I appreciate that! I have family in Pittsburgh; if I ever get back up to PA to visit them, I'll be sure to stop by and try out the Sinistar machines (and the rest of your collection)!
Here's some context: while doing research, I reached out to the Strong Museum and purchased some scans of some Williams engineering logbooks for personal use and to see if I could find anything on Sinistar. These logbooks were made right after the game was released so there's very little mention of it, however I found a lot of new info regarding Star Rider and several other prototypes Williams were working on right before a lot of people were laid off in November '83. These scans answered a lot of questions I had about the game and provided a better understanding of what happened as the industry crash was going on.
I'm going to talk about Star Rider a little bit in the documentary because the game actually has a lot of connections to Sinistar and I thought it would be really cool to show the scans since they're from a very important (and difficult) time in video game history. But, according to the agreement with the Strong Museum, you can't re-distribute them without obtaining a license (which is fair and everyone else who is working on their own projects that uses anything from the museum's archives have to do the same thing).
I need to raise $60 per page that I want to show in the documentary and at the very least, there's like 4 pages that I want to show. But if enough is raised then I can purchase the rights for more pages and display more cool internal ephemera that survived from the early days of Williams.
If I wasn't so broke, I would do this myself but this is the position that I'm currently in and I have no choice but to accept it for now and ask for help.
On the upside, I've completed the first 30 minutes of the video so I'm more or less a quarter of the way there!

Don't forget, you can now go into the settings menu and enable 'Pause Mode'. Once enabled, you can press the player start button and pause the game (with message on screen)

All,
Among other surprises, the plan is to have these new ROMs installed in a Sinistar cockpit at CAX for everyone in attendance to check out.
I burned the ROMs to an extra ROM board I had and am testing them out in my upright, and they are indeed quite fun with the shields adding a whole new aspect to gameplay. I'll be bringing the board to the show to put in a friend's cockpit that he plans to bring.
So come to the show and try them in a cockpit!
And I can also let this proverbial cat out of the bag:
We're also planning to host SynaMax (thanks SynaMax...looking forward to meeting you!) who will moderate a panel consisting of some of the game's original creators/programmers to otherwise discuss the documentary and anything else Sinistar-related.
Pre-reg ends today...hint...hint.
Jon
did you find Sam Dicker? Thanks so much, Jon! This will be the first time I ever experienced the game in a cockpit cabinet...never thought it would also be my first time playing the shield mod on original hardware! And getting the opportunity to moderate a panel with the original team members is something that I'm both very anxious and excited to do. Even after a month of planning, I still can't believe all of this is happening.
As Jon already said, we have some other surprises in store, it'll be a great panel!
Not sure if it's okay for me to say who will be there yet, so I'll wait for Jon to confirm the guest list.did you find Sam Dicker?
