"Rescued from the clutches of an evil dragon"

Well I thought I would post my Dragon's Lair rebuild.

I have always wanted my very own and have been "collecting" parts for it since the early 90's. Finally decided it was time to get down to it and finally found a cabinet on a local 4-sale forum although it was converted to a Arch Rivals I figured it should be no problem in converting it back.

Well that is where I was wrong, overall the cabinet was not in too bad of shape, but I guess you could say I am anal about things and one thing lead to another and the next thing I knew I had the cabinet gutted and completely disassembled.

So here I am during disassembly:

continued on now with repairing the control panel (some slugs welded in) and using a 'bondo' mix to repair the corners on the sides and powder coated the coin door (will need some touch ups (came at a later time):

Moving on to reassemble the cabinet - learned that there is definitely an art to putting in part together in the correct order. Some parts had to be replaced: marquee panels, bottom panel - the game looks like it was dropped at some point in it's life and broke the wood up fairly good around the legs. I also ended up replacing the front panel for the coin door as repairs to it were not going as well as I hoped.

Finally, electronics going back together. Had some issues with the main board with relation to the games timing but Shaun Wood was extremely helpful in helping me work through it. Turned out an modification was done to the board that messed up the timing (the odd things is I have a couple other boards and they all had the exact same mod).

Finished off the new vinyl and side art, plus a new CPO and it's as good as new.

Anyways, got it mostly all the electronics worked out (seems to be an issue with the MultiRom Card, but Shaun is taking a look at it). Till I get it back, I can at least play a few games on my very own Dragon's Lair - been a long wait, but it's finally here. :D
