Yes I gather they can be a problem so I was expecting a battle, but I am stumped.
OK, so I fixed the wire loom, tightened the set screw to hold the chopper on its shaft, tightened the loose set screws on either side of the rubber doughnut in the drive shaft, checked the opto's and switches, adjusted the ball lift to max height etc.
So the chopper moves and goes to both positions fine, the ball is lifted OK but not til it touches the magnet. The chopper is not 100% perfect over the ball.
Should the electromagnet be strong enough to lift the ball from 3/16 inch or does it need to be pushed onto it ?
Anyone have tech info for this assembly ?
Ta in advance.

PBR says to use the coil they supply with a sleeve, mine does not appear to have one.
Would a sleeve make much difference to the strength of it ?
I really need to get this running properly for tomorrow, big party !!!

What kind of ball are you using? When I switched from standard pinballs to some super-shiny ones in my Black Knight, I noticed the magnets aren't as effective as they were with plain cheap pinballs. Something about a lower iron content in them I've been told.
