If I were to get a hold of the various colors of Nintendo leaf style buttons as exactly as humanly possible, would it be worth while to do? I'm not looking to make money off of this but rather bring back the feel of the old buttons. The replacement buttons I've bought seem to lack in one way or another.
I swear.... I been thinking about pulling every single microswitch button in all of my games...
My Galaga has leaf- and they just "feel good".
Maybe I'm crazy, but microswitches suck.
The problem I've been running into is that the Nintendo buttons have a smaller diameter hole in the control panels. I hate hogging the holes out to fit a different button. Also, the Nintendo buttons were significantly taller. Just feels better to me.
The profile is different though correct? I have some of the Mikesarcade buttons and I like them but they are definitely shorter than the Nintendo buttons and the top edges are a different radius.
I know. I know. This is not very critical to most but if I could polish out the old buttons and make them look new again, I would.
If you make these you will make money. Many people including myself have considered doing this but have not taken the time to do so. Hell if you get a quote and don't want to cover the whole cost I may invest and buy a number of these to resell. My only advice is that you would make mostly blue and orange buttons. IIRC both DK and DK jr use two blue and one orange button. So I would make one orange for every two blue and with regards to the other colors such as red and black I might only make 1 of these for every 10 orange or so. I know folks want these other colors but the demand will be far less than it will be for blue and orange.
To the person who posted the comment about switching from micro switch to leaf I had to laugh a bit since we are talking about nintendo buttons which are micro switch buttons. Admittedly they don't sound or feel like it though.
As many have pointed out Mike's buttons are not accurate to nintendo buttons in any other aspect than the fact they are buttons.
They should make Nintendo buttons that actually fit in the damn control panel! Every single person I bought 'original' Nintendo buttons from don't fit. Weak sauce.

Oh, yeah... micro switches suck. Save them for Street Fighter 2 and on.
I had a thread not long ago about picking up some OEM Nintendo buttons for my DK. I have to say, it makes a difference.
Original buttons respond better and are less soft to the touch which matters in DK IMO. I think I did a lot more accidental jumps using Mike's buttons than the OEM ones I have now. Though, it could all just be psychological since I haven't made any huge improvements on my score. Regardless, I'm happy I found OEM buttons in excellent condition.
If you end up doing these, I would be in for several buttons most likely. As backups and to have on hand if I ever need them.

I'm starting to lose count of how many times I have posted in a thread about making new Nintendo buttons that yes, I would like some. Maybe someday someone will actually make them...........

Agree and personally I'd be up to throw money to make it a reality but have no clue who to contact to even start the process which is why I never took the first step toward actually making these. With the prices the NOS orange and blue buttons sold for it's next to impossible not to turn a profit on accurate repros of those colors. Hell they could be sold only as sets of two blue and one orange if you really wanted to and I still think people would line up to buy them. I know I'd buy a set and mine are actually really nice originals on my machine.
