I'm working on the MCR type harnesses right now. They're coming along nicely. I will be releasing Tron and Satan's Hollow first. Solar Fox, Domino Man and Kick/Kickman will follow shortly.

I've decided on AMP SL156 type connectors to use in place of the AMP MTA-156 IDC type connectors for the POWER connectors. I may continue to use MTA-100 IDC connectors for the 19 and 23 position connectors which are generally used for control panel signals. I can go either way on this one. I'm not sure using Molex or AMP 0.100" non-IDC type connectors is necessary for these connections.

My question to the community right now has to do with the control panel harnesses. Bally/Midway soldered the control panel harnesses directly to the controls. I was wondering if there's any reason to (or not to) change these connections to 0.187" or 0.250" Quick Disconnect (QD) type connectors in place of soldering. It would make the harnesses look a lot nicer from a construction point of view. I'm not familiar enough with the controls/control panels to make this change without getting some input on the subject first. I'm perfectly fine leaving them as-is so the end user can solder them on. Is there any opinion on this subject?

Alright. That's two votes for QD's. I suspect they're just standard 0.187" tabs, but I'm not sure. They could very well be 0.250" tabs for all I know. Can anyone definitively answer this for me?

I don't need one (never say never, I guess) but is it too cost prohibitive to do like B/M did and leave the wires bare so they can be soldered directly to the leafs and have the other end of those wires terminated in a 0.084 AMP multi-pin plug/receptacle combo? That way you'd get the strength of a solder joint but the CP could still be removed easily with the plug.
