Reproduction Atari Marquee panels - Starwars, millipede, crystal castles etc

Fine looking pieces Brett, you are fast becoming an artist at this shit. I bet you could make me a slick ass back door for my Pole Position out of that black melamine you have. I wonder, does anyone local have a cockpit you could measure? Otherwise, I could measure and draw up a diagram for you.

Glass is 1/4" thick
6 inches tall by 23 9/16" long..just a tad smaller than the overlay that goes over the top..you could get away with an extra 1/16" if you wanted to make it completely flush but the original is just a bit smaller for some reason..

should be 3/16 glass... i measured directly from the side of a CC marquee panel. Phet, Alan is coming here later this year, can get the door delivered almost all the way to your house.

yeah I got 3/16" match for that too fits perfectly flush in.
Im ordering some extra glass for these and will add them to my site later in the week
if anyones interrested.
Great job once again on those Brett.
Thanks saved me a ton of time.

no problem. these would'nt be so bad to make, if it wasn't for that round over on the front top. I shave a little off with the tablesaw, and then make that entire round with my sander. Kills lots of sandpaper and time lol!!

I thought you used your router with a round-over bit? No? All sanding? Whoa.

round over bits are always 90 degrees with the roller bearing on top. I use one for the back and for the bottom front, it's just that top front edge because of the odd angle.

3/16" may work fine..but that isn't what glass was installed in two original crystal castles I had laying around..there is a recessed gap that is exactly 1/4" between the overhang on top and bottom that makes glass flush..
3/16" is going to be a little small in my estimation....but that is fine..whatever works..perhaps there was slight variation in these because of detail required to make them...or maybe they switched thickness during the run..but I definitely do not have 3/16"..I have 1/4"..on two different marquees of mine

It would seem that 3/16" would be a tad too thin for the marquees I have..unless you padded the back to prop it up for overlay that wraps around to stick flush..I will check you version Brett to see if there was a variation perhaps..

it's hard to say with Atari lol I did put the tape measure to the side of an original, and from the main glass support to the edges on the top and bottom, the support was set back 3/16ths. I don't remember if i measured the glass, seemed it would make sense that it would be the same thickness.

i have no time to make these right now, maybe in a month or two..

I was lucky enough to work with one of our existing vendors at work to make me some of these for me. I had one from my Xevious and I got a couple of extras. I didn't paint mine and it worked out OK.

I need to restrip mine and reapply my Phoenix made marquee when I get the chance.

Do you think they'd do it again?
