If you were going to redo a cabinet from scratch would you fix the orginal mistakes or keep it all orginal? Ie switching from particle board (Which I hate) to lighter plywood.

I think it would be awsome to redo a Crystal Castles but in plywood. Might have to have someone paint on the art work as no dedicated artwork exist.

Yes, redo the tugboat cabinets with plywood.

i would do it in plywood, however, buy pricey quality plywood. the cheaper plywood is generally slightly warped, and you want to get something thicker that is going to look good.

Ho-lee-crap does the thought of noice building a cabinet smack of a full season of Repro-Heroes!

:)

ok I have patiently waited 3 or 4 days and nobody has put up a picture of his mopped CC.

can someone do that please?????????

I can't find it.

And for the record I think noice is a nice guy.

Maybe the current owner can post a pic of it.

Don't do it in plywood....

Do it in MDF.

I agree that MDF is dead flat and has its pros, but the bigger possibility of swelling scares me. That said, I'd definitely build a new Q*bert or classic Taito cabinet out of MDF, for originality sake.

What's your biggest beef with plywood?

You guys need to stop... Noice needs to do it in a material that is carwash friendly. That is why I agreed plywood is best.

I can't wait to see the Tugboat reproduction cabinet. They look like cool little games.

The two cabinets I am getting are both different. Both have swelling so I may take them apart to trace. One day I would like to reproduce the side art. I want to use plywood as it will hold up better and be lighter than the orginal Tugboat cabinets. I want to get into wood working as I have some turtle projects I want to do as well as a couple arcade projects (One for myself and, one that I might test on location).

I fix mistakes when repro-ing
I use laminated black particle board, and I improve the back door, using black t-mold to withstand banging on the floor when removed

I get rid of them allen keys and use philips screws

I fix up electrical weaknesses too

It's your cab, why not make it last longer, save effort later :)
