I've been seeing a lot of repro art on ebay. Seller is from Carlisle PA. Anyone have any comments on it??????

I think its from the artwork doctor if so its complete junk. The artwork is super thin and very faded looking. The black is not very black as for other colors. I would not order from them again. The quality is poor to say the least

The "cheap stuff" that is on ebay is garbage! There are a couple of sellers on there selling repro art that is printed on this lame, flimsy vinyl. The print quality is sub-par to barely passable. The worst part is that the vinyl is so thin, that the adhesive will not stick to certain surfaces, especially cabinets that have been painted with oil cased paints.

Here is a pic of what happens when you apply the el-cheapo art to a cab that is painted with an oil based paint. In all my years of converting games, I have never had an issue with roll painting a cabinet, and having the art fall off of it within an hour or so of placing it on there. Needless to say, the auctions will not tell you that this will happen if you apply the cheap art to a surface that is painted.

I actually had one seller on ebay BLAME the paint on the cabinet (which sat over a weekend before I applied the art) for why the art wouldn't stick. You shouldn't be selling junk and not disclosing the fact that you can't stick said junk on any old arcade cabinet!

You are WAY better off spending the extra $20 or so and getting a higher quality product from Arcadeshop, Phoenix, or gameon. At least their product will stick to a cabinet, and they don't have to advertise it as "wall art" like they don on ebay (which is what it becomes when it falls off of your cabinet)!

I bought some repro Mario Bros. side art on ebay a few years ago and thought I was getting a deal. When I was finally ready to use it I unrolled it to discover it was a cheap ink jet job. It wasn't even the correct size or colors. You'll definitely pay more for the good stuff (screened and die cut) but it will be worth it. There are several threads here on the forum about where you can get good repro artwork from. Here is one: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=118216

I looked up the seller of the Mario Bros. side art that I purchased. Yep, pastucia from Carlisle, PA. Avoid.

Same thing happened to me a few years back before Phoenix repro'd the Mario sideart again.
It was cheap inkjet and the colors were all alligatored and I had to cut it to fit...

I sent it back for a refund. Told the guy it was garbage. It IS the guy who goes as the "Artwork Doctor".
AVOID!

I have the same issue with the artwork rolling up on the edges... But for Mario bros... I couldn't see spending more on the art than I did on the cab. So the $55 eBay special it was!

Looks good to me other than two of the edges not sticking

What's the point of even putting anything on? Might as well grab a box of crayons and go at it.

Funnny cause his stuff is not "cheap" ($$$) when comparing to myself, GameOnGrafix, Arcade Overlays, etc.
and Im pretty sure he has taken others images (mine included) and made poor repros
from them. possibly through vectormagic or something to then blow them up and print.

Ive even recently started selling some of my own repros (most solvent inkjets) on ebay that have been copied by this seller.

Ebay has never really been a place to get GOOD repro art.
The trusted people be it inkjet or screened you know and love are always your best bet.

He uses Vectormagic or so, or if he can get bitmaps or vectors on ArcadeArtLibrary.com or vectorlib, he uses it, no matter how incorrect it is. Look at his Pac-Man bezel, the design's all wrong. Those Ms. Pac/Galaga Reunion CPOs are plain weird.

Yea...i suppose...I wanted art, but $135 for side art?? DAMN! I know it is really nice stuff though....

My DK I bought the Silkscreened art, bezel and CPO from arcadeshop....which all together cost me the same price as just the silkscreen Mario sideart would have cost me from Phoenix Arcade....But again, I understand why its a high price, because its really nice, I just couldnt see myself spending that kind of money for just artwork when I put $500+ into just getting Marqee, Bezel, CPO (silkscreened), Control Panel + joysticks and buttons, fixing the monitor, and finding a working boardset and power supply....(my widebody was hacked to double dragon hell when I got it)

For the artwork I bought looks fine to me, picture quality wise, I think it looks better than the version my cousin bought from GameonGrafix, however I am having the rolling issue on the corners after the first day or so. FTIW i bought mine on eBay from seller:digdug!

side art

hello,
I would stay away from him, bought a ms pac and received all stuck togather (real bad shape) spoke to man and said send it back for a refund minus all his charges ,would not recomend

I'm looking to buy a few multicade marquees, and I have to admit that I much prefer the look of digdug!'s art over anything else I've seen on commercial sites. The main complaints I've read on KLOV relate to poor adhesive and poor color reproduction, neither of which would really be applicable in my case.

My main question is this: with all of the bad experiences cited in this thread, why does he still have 100% feedback on E-Bay? Fear of retaliation?

Because most people tend to leave feedback before they discover they've gotten crap. They open the box, take a quick look at the contents, and then put it on a shelf for a couple of weeks before they actually try putting it on. In the meantime, they've been on feeBay and posted feedback.

After thinking about it for a while I just broke down and ordered Mario Bros art from Phoenix. I haven't applied it yet but it's very nice. It costs $160 by the time you pay shipping but I figured that was better than flushing $55 down the drain.

My guess is because he doesn't give you a hard time about refunds. Most people are just happy to be made whole.

Also, which ebay account are you looking at? He has multiple ones.
I believe I left neutral when I delt with him.
