NEW ReplayFx 2016 - Who's going?

I'll be there Friday & Saturday. It appears there will be quite a few others from Columbus attending.

I went yesterday and am thinking of going today.

Highlights:

The usual Kong dudes are there. Mitchell etc.

I'm guessing the total lot of machines is working at 95% which is amazing when you see how many are there.

The crowd is nice and unlike cax it seems everyone was not smelly! A nice crowd.

Classic vids. Really amazing. The hand made vector (sorry spacing on the name) is there. Also a cockpit Star Trek, and a stun runner which I really enjoyed. They also had two robotrons on the floor with what appeared to be original joysticks.

This brings me back to my dream project of installing asteroids in a deluxe cabinet. One is a better game and the other a better cab.

The pinball machine "fire"....also seawitch...both just really fun to play.

A lot of woz's. 1 lebowski and 1 rob zombie and Americas most haunted. Most haunted was stuck in ball search mode but I'm sure it's fixed. I was underwhelmed by rob zombie. Hard to judge on a few plays. I enjoyed lebowski but had an odd moment where one of the vids locked and the machine restarted itself.

Only 1 ghostbusters on the floor which was a little surprising.

Me dos castle is underrated. As is lost tomb.

Odd titles missing - pleiades (unless I missed one) was the only one I was looking for but couldn't find. Also scramble and berzerk. Though really that's nitpicking there are a shit ton of classics there.

I guess I'm gonna shower and go again

Anyone here that wants to meet up send a pm. I don't know many pa folks :)

As of this afternoon I still hold the Mr. Do! high score on the one dedicated game that plays properly (the other dedicated has a weird speed hack when Do! is digging).

I know I saw Jen May walking around with DJ Darryl and I got to meet the legendary Buffet, who, was soldering something for some reason.

And not to mention Techs Adam Airhart (aairhart) and Ted (slots).

What a great festival.

Swords of Fury- never played before and really I don't really remember even ever seeing it but there are so many pins. I tried to snap a pic of any game I didn't know but dug either the art or gameplay.

Thursday was nice. Very low crowd in the early AM. Could walk up and play just about anything. That is until I was having a good old time playing TX-Sector and staff told me it was for tournament use only (ooops!). We walked around the outside perimeter so I didn't even see the barriers. Honest mistake. :)

Had a nice lineup of titles I needed to get out of my system so I wouldn't buy them. Strangely two rare cockpits found their way into the joint but only one Cinematronics game and it was broken. The Tempest cabaret was a mess of retrace lines I hope somebody fixed before the tube ended up with a hole in the middle of it. Star Wars was also out of service. I was really bummed about this because if I stood a chance to place my initials anywhere, it was these two. Even if it only lasted for 15 minutes. Do's Wild Ride infuriated me within one game.

Vendors were nice and I chipped a little support their way. I wanted to merch whore a little but didn't like any of the T-shirts. You definitely owe it to yourself to stop by Pinball Perfections area and check out Dans mechanical maze. Super cool implement that teaches electromechanical workings while absolutely captivating the most ADHD person. It totally worked on me.

Biggest disappointment: The sound levels on the games. Perhaps 50% of the titles I played I couldn't hear shit.

Personal highlight: Seeing a 'tech' shirt walking around and realizing I wasn't wearing it.

I'd go back next year. We need a solid thread for this event in the sale/trade area as the Pittsburgh market sucks so anyone traveling in that can bring something like they do with Allentown, Chicago, OHPS, and CAX can advertise it and get it done.

Full Throttle- what a game. Lots of racing themed pins but this one is different. You can hate all things auto racing and enjoy playing this.

Gator- my fear is these old ems will fall out of fashion and we will lose the art. From what I can tell on this back glass theses girls were out fan boating and hit a stump and the gator has chased them into the trees with toucan Sam.

Stellar Wars - I love Williams. I do. Probably created two of the greatest (if not the greatest) arcade games. Robotron and medieval madness. (For me that pairing would be robotron and terminator 2 but I digress). I don't know what happened here. The art is so bad it's good. They are clearly ripping off battle star galactica. (Solar fire or ride does as well). What the fuck is a stellar wars? I can't remember the gameplay because the art fucked my mind up. I would buy this pin just for the wierd art.

Star Castle was down with monitor issues that was a bummer. Tempest and Star Wars both got fixed. I believe the problem with Star Wars was with the kit.

Star Wars was definitely one of the highlights. A lot of fun. Red Baron cockpit was starting to screw up toward the end. That was a downer. I tried to play all of the vector games I could find. Tempest included.

I had a great time. A giant room full of arcade games - how I could I not? I wish I arrived earlier on Friday but ended up staying until close on Friday & Saturday.

It was fun playing games I never played or even saw in person before -- Joust 2, Spy Hunter 2, Missile Command cockpit, Discs of Tron, Red Baron cockpit, Nibbler, Varkon & others.

I got addicted to Nibbler & played it quite a bit. Spy Hunter 2 is even worse than I heard.

I set some personal high scores on Popeye, Tempest & Millipede.

I could do without the classic rock cover band. It drowned out the sound from the games. I could also do without $7 beers. That's why flasks were invented.

I'll be back next year.
