Newbie here- I was wondering if a power cord can safely be replaced with a comparable extension cord; meaning, if I got a heavy duty extension cord, with matching gauge & amperage, is it safe to use that as a replacement? I've seen a mix of opinions online but most who say "no" seem to reference gauge & amps. But if the extension cord meets those minimums, shouldn't it be fine? And if I use an extension cord longer than the original power cord, does that matter? Thanks in advance.

Exception would be an 80's Williams machine and mandatory to use a brown cord. :)

I pick up this cord at estate sales given the chance. I work on a lot of EM games, and this keeps it period.

I've used a multitude of desktop computer plugs. I cut the computer side off and go.

Rules of thumb... Grounded, three prong, a minimum of 18g, but 16g is much better. Unless your doing lengths more than 25 feet (roughly 8 meters), then 14g is not necessary. Ensure the internal connection are solid and grounded.

As others said, use brown for Williams. Atari used black.
