I'm going to look at a 4 player Sunset Riders machine tomorrow that I'm considering purchasing. It will be my first cabinet, so I am new to this. Living in Connecticut, it's tough to find good deals on Cabinets, since they're hard to find amongst private owners, and dealers always want top dollar for crap games in crap cabinets.

Anyways, really, I'm more interested in the cabinet and the monitor to swap games out of, then I am with the Sunset Riders game itself. The problem with this is that the Konami beat em ups all work on a 2 button control panel, which limits the games you could swap into the cabinet. Anything that would require say, a start button, or a third action button would not be compatible with the cabinet as it currently is, right?

So my question is, how difficult would it be to swap out the control panel with something more conducive to playing a variety of different games, say a 4 player panel with 6 action buttons + a start for fighting games? Can anyone point me in the right direction for some help in making these modifications? Is it a lot of trouble?

You can just cut out a new top board and drill whatever holes you need. It is attached to the cp box with a hinge. I went that route with my MAME cab, and it was pretty easy to do. It is not hard to build the whole box if you wanted to be able to swap different panels. The whole thing is only held on by 3 bolts.

Since it is already a 4-player cab, it might even still be wired for 4 sets of controls.
