Replacing a fusible resistor...

I am replacing a fusible resistor on my G07 (FR401, I think), but cannot find the same type from Mouser. The original is one of the white rectangular ceramic covered ones. I believe it is a wire-wound cement encased resistor. I ordered a metal film fusible resistor to replace it. Has anybody had experience swapping these like this? Think it will be a problem?

A regular 68-ohm 2-watt resistor will work just fine...

Thanks for the reassurance. I thought it would be fine, until I read a thread on another forum specifically saying not to use a metal film fusible resistor in place of that one. I definitely trust you more than the other guy. Thanks, Mod!

Edit: While I'm thinking about it, I do have another question. I recently saw a picture of another G07 chassis on here that seemed to have significant corrosion right around this same resistor. The resistor on my board had a leg actually corroded through and it looks like there was a good amount of heat build-up on the board in that area. Are these problems common on this chassis?

Yes. I've seen (and replaced) several that were corroded just like that. The resistor does get fairly warm, and it's a common source of trouble. The solder joints at the board sometimes crack as well. Any of these problems (corroded through, open fuseable resistor, cracked solder joint) result in no vertical deflection, and a single horizontal line on the screen.

That resistor must be mounted above the board with at least 1/8" clearance underneath it for air flow. It does get hot in operation.
