replacing 5 volt regulator on stern freefall pinball driver board

hi, I am replacing the 5 volt regulator on a stern Freefall pinball driver/power supply board. i am replacing a regulator UA78Ho5SC with a LM323K. i had to look up the pin out on the data sheet and noticed ,they are mirror images. long story short, I can line up the pins of the regulator correctly but the heat sink and pcb mounting holes will not line up. I tried rotating the heat sink. Still the mounting holes will not line up. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

The LM323K is a straight swap with the 78H05.
The ST datasheet is misleading when trying to figure out the pin out - it is a top view looking through the part. For a definitive answer - look at the Texas Instruments (National Semiconductor) datasheet (bottom view).

Now, if going to an LM338K 5 amp adjustable -- there's a different pin out.
