Chicago Coin 1969 Speedway uses a 6v single pole bulb to illuminate the game wheels.
Lacks badly. Anyone done a LED replacement?
Thanks!

If you use a LED bulb your making a 5 sec bulb change out more into a hour long LED conversion. I don't see the point personally unless your running this game 24/7 you certainly won't benefit from the electricity savings going from a standar bulb to a LED. You can take your current bulb to any auto zone and get 2 replacement bulbs usually for around $3 . If your the bulb still seems to dim adjust the bulb mount location forward more on the bracket to better illuminate the track. If you still think its too dim after that check that your getting the full 6volt into the lamp socket itself.

Creighton,

KCHVACGUY is right. I modified my SAMI to LED. Was I bored or something this winter? Maybe. Was it a significant time investment...yes. I'll admit I'm very happy with the results and enjoyed the challenge...no regrets.

My original reason was that my fan that cools the bulb died when I was restoring the game causing the bulb to burn up. Then I found that a bathroom fan at Lowes was almost a direct replacement after I modified and did the LED. Will it now last for a very long time. Probably due to the LED being cooled (which by the way is suggested for an LED to last longer)

The real issue you would have is finding an LED that voltage that would illuminate the plastic plug and play. I struggled with that for a bit with my mod and had to test several LED's.

Good luck with your decision...
