Replace a 4600 tube/chassis with a wg4900 or a wg7000

I want to replace the wg4600 tube/chassis in my centipede with either a wg7000 or a wg4900 tube/chassis i have laying around as spares.

Would this replacement with either chassis/tube set up be an exact change, meaning, will any wiring to the sync have to be reconfigured? Both of the spares are vertical mounted monitors...both came put of Gyruss's.

Awesome!...thanks for the tip....now i have two plans for the weekend....do that wg7000 mod u messagee me about and now, throw a 4900 into my centipede thats been collecting dust for 3 yrs.

I hate 4600's with a passion. I replaced the monitor with a k7000, no wiring changed but I think I had to change the power connector but you might not have to.

I feel the same way about the 4600's....the absolute worse...thankfully my centipede is the only game with a 4600

I know this isn't a thread on the virtue/vices of 4600's, but the main issue I seem to have with mine in the X/Y board connectivity. The display seems to always "collapse", and just touching (wiggling) the X/Y brings it right back. I'm going to try some 846-conductive grease on the connections to see if that resolves the issue.

You need to reflow the connectors and clean them out.

Yeah...but I have a case of the "lazy's" right now. It's a horizontal 4600, mounted vertically (Galaxian) and the boards are hard to get to. So I just turn it off and not play it. :) I do intend to clean them out (good thought on the reflow while I have it out), but I was hoping that afterwards, the 846 will keep the connection from oxidizing.

4600's and 4700's are great monitors if you can get past the part where you have to desolder the width coil to work on them.

not if yours has a smoky flyback and no one will sell you a new one...
