So today I hit Flipper's with a few buds of mine and pumped almost 20 bucks into Raiden II to beat it with one of them slightly over two times... and if I had brought any more money, I would have done it a third! What an amazing game! The "Ghostbusters" homing beam you get my mashing fire with lasers set to purple is one of the best power ups ever. The gameplay never really gets old, chaos at its best. I've played other games in the series but nothing compares to this. I'm getting an upright of this baby asap.

Anyone else have/love this game? It's a fairly underrated classic, you hear about R-Type and Dodonpatchi all the time but this one blows away even Ikaruga IMO. It's fun enough in one player, but staying to the bottom with the ultimate red screen-fill-missile power to blow up the incoming meteors while your friend takes down the boss Ghostbusters style with a giant blue beam and nuclearish bombs is a blast (pun intended).

I never got into Raiden but they hit the ball out of the park with Raiden2. I picked up Raiden Fighters not too long ago...destroys Raiden2 and what makes it great is you can use the Mk2 from Raiden2 as one of your ships if you want. All the newer ships are awesome as well. What else I can say about Raiden2 that makes that game great is how eventually you leave the planet and fly into space...classic. Yes great game all around!

Raiden II style games are some of my favorites. I actually have a Viper 1 upright which I use to swap out a lot of my vertical shooters in there. Raiden, Dodonpachi, 1941, Raiden Fighters, etc.

Does Raiden II save high scores? I have Varth and Raiden -- and love 'em both -- but the lack of HSS really blows.

Yeah, that purple Raiden would look much better in black spray paint. I have had my Raiden for around 6 years now. I love the game and have always wanted a Raiden 2 PCB for it but haven't got around to it yet.

I love Raiden II... it just suck that I can't tell the blue from the purple power up easily, so I always stick with the red spread shot.

Raiden II is awesome. I have a PCB myself. I'd been looking for one for years (that wasn't some crazy price).

I briefly played Raiden III in an arcade somewhere back in the day. I actually think that was pretty fun, too. But I haven't seen one since and it wasn't on MAME last time I checked.
