I popped over at banning yesterday to attempt to work on a jungle King and talk to the tech. Just to see what he thought of the idea. Friday and weekends are ok. I am working on a written proposal for the owner today For a Friday and Saturday repair event.

I can do maybe late June. Keep us posted!

My repair skills are pretty weak, but depending on the weekend, I may be able to lend a hand. It sounds like I'm in the same boat as a few of you as far as my schedule goes. The next 4-5 weeks are going to be pretty hectic, but I could probably swing a visit out there sometime after that.

We will start from the basics. Since most of the machines are running. I don't see too much of a problem of doing simple trouble shooting.

Does the joystick work? Is the grommet on the joystick shot..
Does it coin up? What monitor is in the game? Is it playing blind? Is there a switcher in there?

Does the buttons work?

I think i might create a forum to in put all that info instead of using paper or a data base.. since mosrt people are familiar with posting on a fourm. This might be an easy way to gather up data on the arcade machines.

Other people can post on the same thread if they work it..
Once someone with more time makes a database with a history file with everything we need.. i will flush the database.

At least that is my idea. Instead of writting on a paper and having someone try to read everyone's chicken scratchings.
A picture is worth a thousand words. I know how to fix a forum to allow huge picture files so upload will be only limited to connection speed..

Update. I sent the proposal to the owner and I got an ok. "Hot dam!"

He says there a shower over there. According to one of the other techs, there is only one shower. Didn't know the compound over there had a shower. Laughs.

So we need to pick a time to make this happen, I am not sure I can pick a date where all of us can be there at the same time. We might need two events or more.

I am going try to make this event fun and epic and little educational.

Nice work Joe!! I'm down to go along with the other AZ guys! Perhaps just throw out some dates in mid June and see what works :)

We are looking at mid june and trying to nail down concrete date. Depends who can make it. A list of tools you can bring would be great.

I can bring the following:

  • Soldering Iron & Desoldering Gun
  • Test Pattern Generator
  • DMM
  • CRT Rejuvenator
  • Typical stuff (screwdrivers, etc)
  • Drill & drill bits
  • Portable air compressor
  • Brad nailer/staple gun

A list of rums you can bring would be great.

I'm good for pretty much any weekend after the 14th.

I don't own all the cool toys that Brien and Scott own but can bring the basics.
Soldering iron
Desoldering station
Various screwdrivers
Various nut drivers
Various other tools
Monitor discharge tool
Wire strippers
Lazer thermometer
Multimeter
Basic parts I have sitting around that might come in handy.
Whatever else I need to bring other than a charm and personality.

This might be a stupid question, but is there a good stock of parts there?
If not, would it make sense to order some basic stuff in preparation for this?

Also, what are we thinking about doing for the food situation?
Is there a grill or grills on the premisis somewhere?
If not I would volunteer to bring a couple charcoal grills and grilling tools.
I think it would be fun and pretty easy to do something like burgers, dogs, chicken etc out on the patio area.

If you guys are cool with the grilling idea, ill run with it. As my contribution to this event, I can make a CostCo run before hand to stock up on stuff like water, cases of soda, burger patties, buns, condiments, paper plates etc.

HA, Brien is the king of toys, mine are child's play in comparison ;)

I like the BBQ idea! I don't mind chipping in some cash towards whatever we decide. I can bring a very large cooler to put some soda, beers, etc in while we are there. Thanks for volunteering to handle all that stuff Kent!
