The Bondo I have has been a pain to work with, and until I can get some more EVERCOAT: Formula 27 I was wondering how restorers here have fared when using wood filler to fill in small missing pieces at the edge of particle board.

(I removed the white vinyl from the outside of a Pole Position cabinet, but it still have the black vinyl inside).

I'm just trying to determine the best way to proceed.

Thanks.

Stabilize the entire area with hardener, use a smooth form along the narrow edge that overlaps the sides, then build up with the Bondo or similar. I've used a strip of melamine board (3/4 thick, ~2" wide), clamped to an edge, covered with wax paper for an easy release. If you get everything prepared properly, the application of the Bondo won't be such a pain.

I'm sure there are pics of the same/similar process on here somewhere.

Ok. I actually used wood filler and let it dry over the last 24 hours. I then filed it to square the edges and it held up well. This is at the rear of the cabinet, so nothing critical.

Look up "Milliput".

Use hardener, smooth with sandpaper, then use milliput to rebuild.

It's some serious shit.
