I took off the legs of my cabinet, and want some advice on repairing the corners.

The legs have dug into the cabinet. Here is my conundrum. If I repair the corners with bondo and repaint - reattaching the legs will again dig into the corners. If I don't repair them and just paint over top of the dig, is it original?

In other words, do I bend the legs so they don't dig into the cabinet? Or do I allow the legs to dig into the cabinet just like I got it, and simply paint over top of the ditch.

Does that make sense?

Make your own corner protectors either out of craft felt or craft foam (both available at wally world for 25 cents a sheet). Cut them 1/4" bigger than the legs on all sides and call it a day. They look excellent and will cost you about $1 and an hour of your time.

How would the wood putty/bondo hold up even with leg protectors? I like the idea of going to Wal-mart for the craft foam, I assume you would get the right color the cabinet is for a match. One question though does the protector have to be soft? I have this thin like mylar stuff but it not tacky on one side it like a sheets of paper, and is as thin too. Now could I cut that to size and use?

I made those for my LW3 to cover up damage. I didn't know what I was doing, just winged it by putting the foam inside the leg and tracing it. Then I offset the trace by a quarter inch, marked the holes, and cut it to the right size for the cab. Then use the first one as a template for the others - rear leg ones were just longer by a bit.

I used black felt for my Whodunnit. It was much easier the 2nd time around, and I just put them on as I set up the pin when I got it.

IMO soft protectors are better than hard protectors. Color matched are even better than clear ones, thouge you can almost never go wrong with black in a pinch.
