I have a GT Fore! 2005 and having issues with the power supply. I can adjust my +5 to be at 5.2 and I am only getting +9.5V from the +12. So, my question is, can you repair the PS to correct the +12? I hate to sound "cheap", but if I can fix this one I would def. like to do that over buying a new one...

Normally the power supply 12v is unregulated and runs anywhere from 9v to 15v. Is the game having problems doing anything related to the 12v (hard drive not spinning, sound not working)?

It's not putting out enough power for the hard drive. I can start it up and it will just reboot due to not being able to read from the HD (thats my guess, atleast). If I turn the power up, it will boot but halt on an error on voltage being to high (due to my +5 being closer to +6 at that time)...

I had one of these I messed with and messed with, I even tried different power supplies. Eventually I had to bite the bullet and buy a new power supply from IT. It made the game work perfect. Worth the money in my opinion. I tried a computer PS, but the ones in these golden tees have a really high wattage, they're very powerful and hard to replace.

Now, if it's a green board, you can use a regular power supply! A screw terminal, believe it or not, just wire it up and it works. The red board though needs a bad-ass power supply.

It is a green board. I guess I could just switch to a normal PS, but I'd like to make this one work, if possible...

You do not want to do that, recap your power supply or find one out of an old computer.

You should be able to take it apart then test and replace internal components. I rebuild switching power supplies and AT/ATX power supplies fairly regularly. I don't know of a schematic for most of these so you need to be able to identify the circuits by looking at the power supply and understand what each component is designed to do.

Of course, it could be something as simple as a cold solder joint sinking power...

If it's a green board, I'd make a little adaptor to plug a regular power supply into the 4 pin molex, one more for the hard drive, and call it a day. Or you can keep fucking around with trying to rebuild that power supply when you obviously don't know how to; or you can buy a new one. That's your three choices, pick one!

P.S., i'm not trying to be a jerk, just helping you see your choices, LOL.

I was just unaware if this type of PS could be rebuilt. I think I will toy around with it. No since in hacking up another PS if this one can be saved...
