We had a Cart Fury that had a wavy picture. The waviness got really bad, but at the time, I chalked it up to a monitor problem.(This game has a D9400 monitor in it)
The location complained of it cutting off mid-game, but every time I went out to fix it, it was working fine. The time keeper ram died, so we sent the boards to Happ to have it changed, and also reported the problems of the game cutting off. The boards came back from Happ with a new ram and a hefty price tag, and a report of no problems. This would be the 5th time since 2000 this board set has been to Happ.
The boards were put back in the game, test run for 72 hours, no problems(picture is still wavy) and the game was redelivered to the location. As I'm walking out the door, the game cuts off again. I measured the wall voltage...it's right at 120v, so it's ok. Next thing is look at the power supply. The 5v line has 5.2v coming in at the board, so that's ok...but I notice that the segment LED on the board is showing a "0" which is ok, but is flickering to the same wave that the monitor has. Checking the 5v line for AC shows .4vAC on a DC line! I'm surprised that the game even booted up!
Replacing the game's power supply cured the issues of the game cutting off, and also cured the wavy picture.
