Any suggestions on where to start with learning to fix and repair the classic arcades, I have a few games of my own but am leary to try and buy one for repair, am fairly mechanically inclined and can follow instructions, troubleshooting tips etc. Any books or manuals to start a beginner out? Any help would be appreciated.

Getting Started in Electronics by Forest M Mims III. Available at your local Radio Shack.

I started out with his books back in the 80s.

buy a few junk boards for cheap..to practice soldering on. learn to use a digital multimeter. ask plenty of questions you need here.. there is no such thing as a dumb question. The best feeling in the world is when you are done fixing a game..turn it on and see it brought back to life.

The Randy Fromm series of DVDs has been pretty helpful to me.
I have watched them enough the memorize them at this point.
I'll probably toss them up for sale soon. Gotta dig them out.
