Repair - Baby Pac Man - Scranton Wilkes Barre PA area

Hello everyone!!! Im glad to finally be apart of the message boards. I need some help. I tried the Pinball forum, but didnt get any responses, so im going to give it a shot in here since baby pac is a combination of both...

My Baby Pac man needs some repair, and I cant find any persons in the area to help me fix it. Im having flipper issues. My left flipper appears to arc when pushed (blue light) and causes the solenoid to have a blue spark as well. I was once told that it could be a "coil" issue. My right flipper doesnt work at all.

Please forgive me im not technical enough to fix it on my own, but i am desperate to play this game. i had a gentleman come and work on it for me but forwhatever i cant get him to come and finish the job. Would you believe i have had the game since 2004, bought it for 125.00 in great shape (needed a new mpu, vidiot and fixed up power supply) and i have NEVER played it normally. I can play it with the glass off and cheat, but i really want this finally working 100%.

Is anyone in the area that can help? or maybe we can walk through some parts or even a completely new control panel if that will cure the issues (Im not sure if the solenoid is an issue too, or just the control panel)

I appreciate any help!!

2 posts: Welcome to KLOV : you other post must be in the pinball section.

If you update you info so we all can see where you are located and know if we are close to you. If you look at my info on the top right you can see I am in Denton, Maryland. I am not close to too many people but I will help you as much as I can.

From what I have read the flippers are more that just a switch. It is a two part system from what I have read. One part works the flipper (normal) and part two works the flipper when it is being held. It is my understanding that if it was just a simple switch, holding the flipper would burn up coil or something.

Thanks for the help, I have made the corrections.

I am wondering if I should just try to locate an entirely new control panel that has been "reconditioned" and see if that will work instead; I am shocked I have had such a hard time with trying to find a repairman... Its not like calling the maytag repair man LOL!!!

Pins are kind of new to me. Growing up I was always repairing the pcb (printed circuit board) but there is not much to the pins. Most of it is just a bunch of switches being turned on by a metal ball.

Baby Pacman is one of the strangest games to me, video arcade game with pinball.

I have read this problem before and can not remember where but if you do a search in the pinball forms for the problem you should find something about it. I believe there is a coil and diode or something parallel to the coil.

I think I found somebody close to you he is in this thread but don't know if he works on pins.
