I'm repainting an old GT Live 2010. Recoating the white and black. What kind of paint is best to use? Manual says to use airbrush or similar, but what kind of paint have you all used that keeps that plasticy looking coat on the cab?

Yes I'm a noob doing a full resto but it's going well so far

Ok so I've learned from a few PMs that it's not just paint on the cab that it is the particle board peeling off in some places that is the real issue, and just painting over would not really do it justice.

As per this thread:

I see I could use wood hardener, but I'm really thinking that since my flaking isn't really the issue, it's more of scuffs and scratches on the white that bugs me.

Couldn't I just get a can of flat matte white paint and a roller and fix this up easy?

Yes, don't spend tons of energy if absolute anal perfection isn't required. (oh hell, gonna catch it now) :)

I use black semi-gloss. A couple coats with a roller will usually give you very nice results.

That's what I did to restore this Tron before applying the new decals. I did sand the old sides all over to give a smooth surface and good paint adherence. 2-3 coats of Lowe's black semi gloss looked beautiful.

Excellent, thank you, and thanks for the picture, those look great.

Will be buying some white and black semi-gloss paint just as soon as I get off all the old t-molding.

I see all the stereo equipment. My question is, where are the speakers? LOL. And that looks like Ride the Lightning playing.
