Removing right rail thing from star wars data east...

I am trying to remove the rail set thing on the right that was attached to the ramp. Everything is straight forward but the switch attached to the rail is attached by a very small set of nuts and bolts, with the bolts being on the bottom of side of the rail and thus really annoying to get at while it the switch is attached. I mean, you can kind of shimmy it around to get at it but don't have a lot of wire lead and that thing is metal and long.

I checked underneath and did not see a molex connector for the switch wires... am I missing something else or is this just annoying to remove?

If I'm understanding your question correctly, you probably need to loosen the wireform ramp and then unbolt the switch. Or unsolder it. It is kind of a pain either way, the switches almost never have a connector.

bingo!.....i just shopped one 2 days ago, you need to loosen the rail, then use a pair of needlenose on the nuts and a small phillips for the screws, you'll be glad you did!

Thanks! But also ugh! Not an easy removal, need someone to hold the ramp up for me...

Assuming you're talking about the switch on the wire form at the upper right which is closed after you shoot the ramp it's not difficult to remove. You just need a small short Philips screwdriver. There is a clear plastic that has to be removed to get to the switch and 2 small screws to remove the switch. You probably won't even need pliers for the nuts. Just use your fingers and be sure the nuts/washers don't fall into the playfield. You could remove the switch with the playfield installed in the machine with a short screwdriver or lift the playfield, pull it toward yourself and rest it in a way that gives you full access to that area. At that point it should be pretty easy to remove. Alternatively you could cut the wires and add a connector.

Pinball is full of stuff like this. Get used to it :)
