Removing paint on paint? - help in saving Joust side art
Hi all,
I have a Joust cab that has been painted over. In removing the conversion side art stickers I pulled some spots of the paint off and revealed the side art still alive and well underneath. This discovery made me want to save it if possible. But I don't have any experience in this sort of restoration.
I have searched and I know there are several threads discussing the removal of paint but most of the ones I found are about removing paint on vinyl side art. When the removal of paint on paint is mentioned, it seems the only way to go is to try and scrape off the top layer.
My question: is there any substance or technique that will help in this process that won't harm the paint job underneath? Is trying to save the paint job a lost cause?
Thanks!
