Is it possible to remove paint that is covering sideart and not damage the sideart?

In this case, the operator painted a cabinet black and painted over Atari silkscreen sideart that I'd like to keep.

Is this even possible?

Thanks!

i used 3M safest stripper on a MKII cabinet. The vinyl side art was painted over black. left the stripper on until the paint started to bubble and then scraped it off. worked great.

also used it on a Moon Patrol that was painted black. seemed to work fine in the small section that i tried. unfortunately, the cabinet had some areas filled in with some type of filler and the artwork had been sanded before they painted it black.

If you are saying the cabinet has vinyl artwork on the side the safest product I've used is goof off graffiti remover sold at Home Depot.

Thanks for the link!

The pictures really help visualize the process.

I don't know what paint was used, though.

it also greatly depends on the type of paint used to cover the sideart
for example this worked great since it was spray paint

but others like latex, acylics, oil base, water base, etc would require different methods
to get the best results.
any idea what type of paint was used??
