One of my boards had a bad capacitor, so this morning I decided to replace it. I got the cap removed but now the holes are plugged with solder. I cleaned the surface as best I could but the solder is stuck in the middle of the hole. Anyone got any good tips or tricks?
All I got to work with is a 15w soldering iron, wick, and a solder sucker.

Thanks. I got that remaining solder free using a pin. Had to made a few passes but it removed all the solder.

The bad cap was 16v 1000uf, and I replaced it with a 35v 1000uf. That isn't a bad thing is it?

It's fine for the voltage to be equal or higher. uF has to be the same.

Sometimes I just set the cap in the holes with one hand and add some solder to the stubborn hole and push the leg through as it heats up......

Works best if the hole for the longer leg is open... if not I clip the other leg... works well, and I don't have to keep heating the trace. I do this alot with modern PC boards, as the holes are so small.
