I need to remove it so I can try to fit the shifter in my Turbo, but the knob is on there pretty good, which I guess is to be expected as to keep players from stealing it.

Any thoughts as to how to unscrew it without ripping it to shreds or destroying the shifter in general? Or for that matter, if I had to simply cut it off where could I find a replacement?

I got the one off that drewster sent me.... took everything I had to get it to move.... looked like it was originally glued, but it was on a screw thread. The one I am talking about was a wood one.

Hey dude!

The one I've got is plastic, but I've got a few ideas I'm going to try this weekend"

1 - boil the knob in water and hopefully soften the glue enough to get it to move

2 - heat the shaft up with a propane torch to hopefully have the same effect

3 - supercool the shaft with canned air, in theory causing the metal to shrink and break the glue's grip

I'll let you know if any of this works.
