I started my cap kit on my Donkey Kong Junior audio board last night. Actually, I started Monday, but I couldn't get my $20 Radio Shack battery powered soldering iron hot enough. Tuesday I bought an $8 plugin jobby from Sears and am now in business.
Once I got the hang of the braid, things went pretty smooth. I have to say there's something strangely hypnotic about seeing that little bit of smoke and then seeing the solder get "sucked up" into the braid.
I got a little tired at the end there, though, and removed a cap I didn't need to remove (TR372), but I can just solder that back in. Oh well.
Tonight the new caps get soldered and I hopefully get some sound out of this bad boy.
