I've begun restoring a Moon Patrol and found the artwork under the laminant to be salvagable. I've pealed off all the laminant but am left with a layer of adhesive (plyable rubber like substance). I could pick off all the residue with my fingers, but it would take three years. Any suggestions for something that will remove the adhesive, but not damage the underlying art?

Thanks!

Naptha is an option since it won't usually attack most plastics or paint. I use it on pinball playfields after removing mylar to remove the left over adhesive.

As always, TEST first to be sure you're not damaging the artwork. Some of the laminate contact adhesives are very tenacious, so good luck getting them off, hopefully you'll be rewarded with nice artwork underneath.

I'd also recommend 0000 steel wool as a test soaked with the Naptha, depending on the thickness of the adhesive, the 0000 wool will either gather adhesive or add to the mess. While 0000 has some abrasiveness to it, it should be okay on the paint as long as you don't over-do it.
