I've been tossing around the idea of making a remote board for G07 monitors for a few years now. These would have the remote board, with pots, and wires that you would solder into place. You'd remove the old pots, and solder the wires into place.

Would this be something that people would find useful?

Try it out, take pics, and show off the results..

Bet you'd have more interest that way.. Also post it in the general discussion section/forum to get the most views.. As its a new product or feature.. Pretty cool idea if you can pull it off cheaply and easy to install.

I've started working on this. It's not a difficult thing - it's just an extension of what's already there.

I've run into a small snag. Okay, it's less of a snag, and more of a "where do I get this?"

The wiring harness - I want it to be similar, or identical, to one which is used on a 7400/7500 - that style.

There has got to be an off the shelf solution to this, but I don't know what search terms to use. Ribbon cable isn't accurate (though that's just about all that it is). Or, I can find short ones. But, of course, we need length.

Suggestions?

We refer to that design as 'molded' cables. Unfortunately that is a really generic term and the searches for it may be even more extensive than 'ribbon'. I'll look around...

I'd looked at something similar, since it was one of the few things that I could find within the idea that I have. But, I'd /really/ like to have a cable like the one used on a 7400/7500. Headers for those are plentiful, and cheap, and it would be an off-the-shelf solution.

Kortek and other brands just use seperate wires bundled with some wire ties to make up the cable to the remote board. They crimp on some Molex .100 KK terminals and housings too.

That's awfully big - I'm aiming for small. I mean, any port in a storm, if I can't find another solution, but I've got to be able to find what I'm looking for, they're on a lot of applications, I'm just not sure exactly what they're called.

I've got a remote board that was connected to a 13" G07 mounted in a video poker for making adjustments without removing the monitor (and you can't access the back while it's running in a video poker).

This remote worked without modifying the chassis at all, too. You just connected the video signal to the harness, and it had another connector to connect to the input pins.

I've been meaning to look at it to see if it can be adapted to more than the G07, but haven't had time...

Any further progress on this? I was thinking of doing the same and ran across this post

Sweeet. I have a cab that I use as my generic 19" jamma cab with a G07 in it. Would LOVE to be able to adjust the monitor from the coin door.

I have done this for an obscure B&W Board (LAI KZ Chassis)

The plug at the bottom is a header for a floppy drive, so people could just get an old ribbon cable from an old PC and cut 1 end off to feed around the chassis

Any more updates on this? I have a g07 as my bench monitor and would love to have one of these. I was looking into building one until I saw your thread.

It's slow going, as I'm working myself through learning how to use Eagle as I go. Then, I need to find a place that does good, inexpensive PCB work, and the limitations on their boards.

It's a WIP.

I've been flat-out busy, coupled with a lack of knowledge about Eagle. I knocked one together, but I couldn't find the libraries for the pots that I want to use.
