I had 3 of the 4 games. Waterworld, Fireworld and Airworld I believe. The ideas behind the games were cool. Find number clues in the game the refer to pages of the comic book you get with the game. I could never figure these games out. Anyone ever beat any of these without cheating?

You probably had Earthworld not Airworld since Airworld was never released. If you really do have a copy of Airworld please sell it to me!

Mitch is right - was Airworld even started? Maybe you had Earthworld?

I think I found 4 clues in the first one(Earthworld). I'm not sure on Fireworld and Waterworld. I heard Waterworld was the easier one of the three - anybody want to chime in?

Pretty cool that the winner of Fireworld is on Atariage. Definitely has a awesome backstory to the contest and the prizes.

Yea, its Earthworld. Had to dig it out of the closet to check. Been so long since I played them. Watched the game play on Youtube, oh the memories. Bad memories that is. Of course I remember when Atari games were a dime a dozen and you could pick them up in drug stores for 25 cents each brand new. Hell, I bought Warlords with the paddles for $1.00.

I was able to pull off beating Raiders of the Lost Ark. I think a lot of that came from just luck. Riddle of the Spinx I was never able to beat though. I should go back and try now that there are places like GameFAQs.

To be honest with you I have no idea today how I ever beat Raiders back in the day..

Raiders I think was mostly trial and error. There were no clues or hints in the game. I think it did come with a top secret section in the manual, but its been so long I cant remember that had a few hints but nothing that gave anything away. Pitfall II was by far the best game I think that ever came out for the 2600.

I have all 3 that were released. The Waterworld one can go for big bucks if you still have the box, manual and comic with it. Unfortunately I don't know where mine went...all I can find is the cart.

One of the LA producers that came out to the midwest to film for the upcoming Nibbler documentary won one of those contests. I forget which one now. But he got some cool prizes. He must've been a finalist in the one that required the essay and the trip.

Those games were weird, I never figured it out.

Raiders, did that one when it first got released with a friend.
Went back and tried it by myself and couldn't get it.
kinda cool theme though.
Superman was another odd one.....ET..... wow that was a whole genre wasn't it.

I hated the "quest" games. They weren't fun at all to me. Superman was fun...easy, but fun. E.T. was terrible, but had a whole bunch of lore with it. Crazy cartridge burial ground stories in the desert and whatnot.

Seriously, the 2600 was a pretty sweet system, if you think about it...
It started here:

And ended up here...

Nah, that's definitely some spruced up graphics. You can tell by the trees and graphics of 'claw?' character you have to save...

Edit: I'm saying this isn't the '84 version - was there a reissue?

Thats the game I remember playing on the 2600. I dont know of any reissue. At the end of its life, the 2600 did get some good looking games. I have Ghostbuster for the 2600 and it looks great for a 2600 game. But then again, Activision always made some great game for the Atari system.

Those screenshots are not from the 2600. More than likely the 5200 or C64. The 2600 version still looks good though and probably has the most fluent controls of all versions.

You wanna play a really fun two player game, pick up Entombed. Now that was a fun game. Good way to piss your friends off too. :)
