ok, been working on a MS Pacman that was converted to pacman that I got in a deal a while back, the cabinet needs repairing, the monitor has severe burn-in and was missing the G07 chassis.

well I had a chassis that I cap kitted and but into the cabinet and after reseating all the socketed chips a few times and replacing one chip that controlled the sound I had a pacman running. Got the daughter board and chips off ebay and it is now back to a MS pacman and running good.......except the monitor looks like crap.

I just purchased a bunch of cabinets and parts this past week and in the pile was a very lite burn in G07. I had another chassis that I tried on the tube in the MS pacman but its brightness was low so I use the other.

Well when I installed this one into this monitor I heard the HV static and then the sizzle and then the magic smoke, looked to come from the flyback.

Now to the real question, Do you think the chassis was borderline since it had low brightness on the other tube and just happened to die on this one...or could the tube have caused it to go up in smoke.

I was thinking of trashing the severly burnt tube and replacing it with this one, but that means I have to take the last good g07 chassis and install it on this monitor.

is it worth the risk.....I have yet to have a tube smoke a chassis.

Thoughts anyone.....

It is doubtful that the tube smoked the chassis. G07 flybacks are prone to failure and it sounds like yours finally gave up. Rebuild the chassis (new fllyback, caps, etc.) and then you will have a good monitor.

I figured I was pushing my luck with it. I only have 2 G07 chassis's and the one in the ms pacman I just capped and it came with what looks to be a new flyback and hoz. coil.

I guess I will take it out and put in in this monitor and replace the badly burnt one that is in the ms pacman.

I have about 7 monitors I need to work on. so I will have lots of questions.

Have several WG's, 1 pentranic, and 1 ALS in a showcase cabinet to deal with.

If you don't want to deal with the G07s I rebuild them fairly quickly. Assuming they're all original and no hacks have been done to them, I'll rebuild one for $80 shipped.

put the good chassis into the monitor that has faint burnin......didn't let out any smoke..

after a little adjustments got a bright picture .....wait for it.......except someone has screwed with the convergence rings......it is way off....I picked up 2 different generators off ebay but neither seem to hit the resolution that will sync......the only thing to get close
will be the dots on ms pacman.....this will be fun.

just noticed it doesnt have wedges under the yoke either

well I started testing another WG monitor I got in the in the stuff from last weekend.

boy did i get screwed in this deal....this monitor has a card missing think it is a WG4600

I have a spare in a very badly burned monitor that i will rob and try tomorrow.

I fired up the Championship Sprint and got a startup music. as i dont have the steering wheels for it I can't rebuild it so it will most likley be parted out.
