So, as many of you, I have been intrigued by BB's pins. I haven't owned a Best Buy card since I was a kid, but I am really interested in trying to go in there and get them to go down a bit on price (read the other thread here with dildo and BBQ in the title, lol). But, I was wondering:

What's the average starting limit that people normally get on BB cards? I would only want it for zero interest, but not sure they would give any kind of decent limit. My credit is pretty damn good, and I have a decent yearly income.... not to mention my wife's.

HOWEVER, I was under the understanding that getting a new BB card only gave you a smallish total limit. Anyone have experience with them? I got a 4k limit from Circuit a few years back easily enough, but not sure if BB's starts that high?

FYI, BB typically doesn't price match Amazon, but I was friends with my salesman, and the manager really wanted to sell one.

As far as the credit goes, we just increased out $1k limit to $5k

Wow. Interesting. I started with a 1000$ limit. I was requesting increase fairly rehularly until i got to 1800$ then decided thats all i needed. Wrong! Lol!

I jusy requested another increase and the automated system bumped it to 1900$, no human interaction resolved. I wonder if the reason my limit is so "low" is just because i didnt request a larger limit initially when i got it for the xbox 360 launch.

I worked there a long time ago, and surprisingly many people I knew still are there, so I'm sure I could swing some sort of deal for sure. Just inquiring what a first time account starts at.

Dunno what they'd give you just straight up. I bought a $3k tv and to get the 3 years 0% interest, I got a card with a $3000 limit. I guess if you wanted a $4000 pin, you'd get a $4000 limit if your credit is good enough. BTW, your credit score really has nothing to do with your income.

My card was originally a Circuit City card with a $1700 limit I got with a deal I got on a TV if I signed up for the card also. When they went defunct Best Buy bought the card accounts and gave me a new card with a $3000 limit. After paying off the TV and a few other things they raised it to $6000 where it sits now.

if you cant buy a pinball with the credit limit they give you, whats the point

didnt Best Buy just get hacked recently ?
i think they are going out of business soon anyway so i'd shy away from that bunch. they dont celebrate christmas so good riddance

.

don't forget, too much credit can hurt your score too

that's what pissed me off initially about Pay Pal. they started me off with such a low credit limit. couldn't even buy a transmission i needed. didnt use them for 3 years after that as punishment. but now i like them as they raised my limit a bunch

it wasnt Best Buy that quit celebrating christmas ?
thought they were the ones that had that Happy Holiday's campaign

yeah, i just think a little while from now, no more Best Buy

.

This thread just turned into one big WTF-fest, LOL!

I guess he won't like me because I'd prefer not to celebrate Christmas too, lol..

internet sales are up, store sales are down

bad economy not helping either

writing is on the walls. if YOU want to invest in thier stock, i don't care
.

Do you REALLY believe they are in danger of going out of business?? Yes, year over year may be down some in a bad economy, but I doubt they are in any danger of going out of business. For one, they have no real direct competitor anymore. They never seem to have trouble filling their stores with customers and they maintain competitive pricing (even against online stores for many things).

yeps, i REALLY believe it.

if i were YOU, i wouldnt be investing my hard earned money with them as a long term investment solution

good luck with that if you do

Stock performance and viabilitity as a business generally have little to do with each other.

So when are you predicting the 'going out of business' sale is going to start? Who do you see replacing their position in the market?

It was easy watching the decline of Circuit City and CompUSA for years. I can't say as I see anything but them continuining to grow. They are now popping up in malls with Mobile stores as well as the vending machine Kiosks in airports and everywhere else.

Can you cite any reputible sources or news articles that substantiate your predictions?

Where will my mom buy her next computer?

BB will be for the old and uninformed in a decade. They will adapt just fine. heck they are in the goddamned pinball selling now. They be fine.

Where will my mom buy her next computer?

hahaha !

think a lot depends on this next election on where our economy as a whole is going

choice to me is either more freedom or more regulations. forget the (D) or the (R) stuff. anymuch more and this might get moved into the political section and then i'll REALLY get yelled at
:)

Anyone care to place bets? I will take the advice and not buy stock in BB. Instead I will bet my savings account BB will still be "in business" 1 1/2 years from now? Thats a good investment (double my money).
