Refinish plexiglass

Thin plexiglass with a few minor scratches
Well I'd say give it a shot, but generally any scratch that catches your fingernail isn't really gonna be able to be removed easily. Also depending on the plexiglass you could just have scratches to an anti-reflective coating so buffing it with an abrasive like Novus would just take that off.

Paying someone to polish plexiglass would be like paying someone to clean your dishes. You should do this yourself.

Like others said, for light scratching or swirl marks, use novus or rubbing compound with a drill with a polishing pad.

For deep scratches (if you can catch your fingernail on it) then you will need to use high grit sanding pads. And then finish with novus or rubbing compound.

It's not that deep. They have a little kit for twenty bucks on Amazon. Yes I will use the novus and sand and buff. Just learned a lot from you guys

See my thread on Arcadeworthy Rescues where I got a nasty deep gouge out of the bezel of my Tail Gunner 2. Look around message 157!

Summary:

Start with Novus 2, and try to work the scratch out as they describe in the instructions. If it refuses to come out, get the required 600, 800 and 1200 grit WET sandpaper, and use it as described on the internet, work the scratch out, then do the Novus 2 - Novus 1 sequence to finish it.

You can see the pictures in the thread. It worked great and you can't see the reworked section at all.

The headlight restoration kit from 3m works wonders, but for a generic piece of plexi or glass I usually just replace it.

They have good prices and fast shipping.
Even better when you have a local one. Most Plexi you can buy at the big box stores are very thin and will bow out after time if used for a large piece like a monitor cover. I use 3/16 for most of mine; Tap has everything and cuts while you wait.

I think I found this eBay seller in a KLOV thread, but have used with much success a few times. You can order and then message him the order number with your custom dimensions and he'll cut it just right for you.
