While cleaning up my storage closet, I found these projects I bought over 5 years ago:
  • token coin mechs for all the games
  • an old parking meter from Chillicothe Ohio (with parts to restore it)
When I stumble upon stuff like this, it makes me realize how quickly the years are going by.

Yeah, man do the years go by, I am at that point with arcade games. I was walking through the gameroom the other day and stopped for a second and went "when did we get that game?" and had to think about it.

P.S. If you want to get rid of the parking meter, PM me.

I was cleaning garage and found boxes of NIB stuff I forgot I had... Buttons, sticks, trackball. There was a time when I was working on 2 or 3 machines at a time where I stockpiled parts. I started building the gameroom itself and all that stuff got stashed and forgotten.

I went through that a long time ago, had a huge box of MAME parts and other hoarded parts for stuff I didn't even own anymore. Ended up posting a big FS thread though and sold most of it. Tossed the stuff nobody had interest in since it was all too cheap and common to bother eBaying.

I love having useful spares in quantity at my disposal, but I don't care to hoard up stuff that I've lost interest in, know I will never need, or has no utility to my current collection.

And have I since acquired projects for which some of those parts would have been useful? No, don't think I have, not yet anyways.

For me, no project is ever unfinished, I just can't leave one undone. It is the excitement of finishing it before moving on.

PS: I grew up near Chillicothe Ohio...

I think I got mine for about $7 each; I bought a lot of 15. I'll keep an eye out for you!

I think I have finally gone through everything I own, so there is no longer the possibility of surprise projects. There are still plenty of projects, but they are all in plain sight so I won't forget about them. I have had a few giveaways as I was cleaning out my garage and office over the summer. I only kept stuff that I will actually use someday.
