Ok,.so im about to buy a Marvel Vs Capcom,..but one hang up..
The game plays and all sounds are great ...everything is fine except the screen is very red.
Now i thought maybe a wire was plugged in wrong,...but the guy says his kids were playing and everyhting was fine and then boom-screen went really red.
He says he hasnt adjusted anything inside..and doesnt know..
Hes far and gonna deliver. I cant really go there and check it out except pix. Any ideas?
help?

Assuming it's a monitor problem (would probably have red retrace lines), I'd guess it's a shorted transistor or short in the tube. Neither are too tough to fix, though it's not something I'd try to walk my Grandma though or anything :p .

tube

So if its a short in the tube would i replace the monitor or fuse?
If its the other thing...then what?
Is it worth buying for $200?

Just had this problem last weekend and it was a Transistor, test them and replace, should be an easy fix.

I don't know what Marvel Vs Capcom normally sells for, and it depends on the condition of the cabinet, but $200 doesn't seem unreasonable... maybe a little high for a "non-working" game. The repair should either be desolder, replace, and resolder a transistor, or if it has a short in the tube, cut some traces, wind a wire around the flyback core, then solder the wire.

I could do either in <15 minutes, but I've done them quite a few times... but if you can solder, neither are very difficult to do.

thnx guy

well,.
I dont have any tools..no soldering equiptment..couldnt really fix anything..
I guess if i cant fix them, it isnt wise to buy them.
I was hoping it was most likely an adjustment on the chassis or somewhere else...
if it requires tech work,.it wouldnt be worth it,
unless,'
could i take any particular piece out,.and taje THAT to a repair man? or tech?
Are there stores or shops that work on these things?
Do i need to know someone?
thnx guys.

If you can't do the work yourself, it's probably not worth it... unless you're local to another collector who'd be willing to help out for cheap. It'd probably cost $100+ to send the board out for a rebuild, and even then you'd need to know how to discharge the monitor and remove/reinstall a monitor chassis.

chassis

Yea,.
I can discharge a monitor.
I watched the videoes,.
reconnecting the fly back i thought was just a matter of plugging it back in and firing it up.
I could disconnect the chassis and monitor..its just the soldering i cant do.
thnx

And that wouldn't help if it indeed turned out to be the tube.
So someone nearby that can do the chassis work AND has a rejuvenator may be the best option.

perhaps the red drive/bias is too high? could it be something that simple? :)

I wouldn't go spinning the color knobs on the neckboard yet though, unless your eyes are good at remembering where they were positioned originally in the event you mess up badly.

another option that might produce a different result is tinkering with the Contrast adjustment, though I don't know where the monitor's remote adjustment board is mounted at. never turn it way high though, otherwise the colors will certainly blow out and you'll start seeing all kinds of strange shit.

of course, this is all dependent on whether or not you actually buy it. when you factor that the game itself is good for about $100 (or more) and you're getting a whole game cabinet and a monitor that may or may not have an easy fix, I think $200 is pretty good. buy it first cheap, then take it home and operate on it. it's pretty gratifying when it's something you can fix. lol

ok

yea,.im so torn
i feel like maybe i could pop open the back and adjust stuff carefully,..and it could work.
But maybe it doesnt,...
So far i have 5 machines,.all deliverd,.and not 1 of them cost more than $160
And they all worked.
Now this one is more,.and doesnt work.
That is my main hang up. Perhaps $200 is good,.but not when ive been buying working games for less...lol.
I have average at best games.
I did have junk. Was lucky to sell Kangaroo and a beat up Vindicators and Mr Do.
Bought cheap Final Fight and Beastorizer.
Everything works great.
Then there is this one.
Im also afraid that Final Fight, Beastorizer and Street Fighter Vs Marvel would be redundant?
Is there such thing as too many gighting games?
If you guys had 2 fighters.would you want a third?
And there is a game correction. I think i said it was Marvel Vs CAPCOM
It isnt
It is Marvel Vs Street Fighter any difference in game quality or value?
thnx again!
