i can get a red tent or a dk3 for about the same price. just wondering what you guys think. dk3 needs tlc, and a cap kit. and the red tent is pretty sound.

i really want to get both, but can't afford that much at the moment. any ideas? i have kids as well. so i was thinking the red tent might be easier for them.

Fixed. ;)

It's a tough call, DK3 could play/interchange the other Kong games, but the Tent doesn't need any work and plays a good selection as well. It might come down to floorspace. Keep in mind that the Tent will require seating on both sides, plus it's own footprint, to be comfortable. I'd get the DK3 just so the kids can't reach (read:break) it, but I'm not a munchkin man.

hehe..ya. i have plenty of space. the only thing i wanted to find is the red tent dimensions with the legs removed. height wise. basically the black base and up.

I'm another for the red tent....

It has variety. Anything from Super Mario Bros. to Vs. Castlevania... not to mention the multiplayer games like Vs. Balloon Fight, Baseball, Ice Climbers and others...

I'll take the risk of getting bashed by the Red Tent Society and say that those things are ugly (quickly runs away....) Sorry guys, but I've thought so since I saw my first one and have had no love for them. I know you guys do but I would go with DK3 all the way. Great game unto itself and you can reKongify it to either of the others if desired.

I'd go with the Red Tent. You could put a single monitor Playchoice pcb in there too, later on.

thanks guys. so anyone that has a red tent. could you measure from the black base to the top? basically the dimensions without the legs? i'm trying to find the max height possible removing the easy parts to see if i can fit this thing through my entry way =p

It's about 39" deep (controller on one side to the other)... and about 27 1/8th" wide. So your best bet is going to be holding one monitor toward you, and someone else on the other side.
They are really easy to grab if you have two people with decent upper body strength. My wife and I moved mine through our door (36" wide) by grabbing it from under the CP on both sides

I dont think that any of us deny the ugly factor. The appeal factor is the Dual monitors and the nostalgia of playing them in Pizza Hut's.

If you are an avid Nintendo fan and enjoy the following games, I'd go with the RT:
Balloon Fight, Wrecking Crew, Ice Climber, SMB, Pinball, Excitebike, Gradius, Castlevania, etc.
Check out John'sArcade.com for a full list, but you get the idea.

If you are a big DK fan, I'd go with the DK3. Get a Super DK harness from Dokert and you can play all three of the DK games, as previously mentioned. In addition, the cab can play anyone of those Vs Nintendo games on it's own. Another thing to consider.

Because you mentioned kids, I would definitely go with the RT. Otherwise, it's a preference call. Do you like to stand or sit? Do you have "gorilla Jow hands" or not.
Good luck.

thanks guys. i never remember these in pizza huts. i do remember the playchoice cabs though. rush'n attack was one of my favs to play
