So I have some red tent monitors I picked up from a guy on here. One is very dim and one has a smooshed picture. The one with the smooshed picture is fatter on top then gets thinner as it goes down. Went to recap it and it already looked like it had been attempted. The dim one has not been recapped yet so will attempt that. Any thoughts on what could smoosh and image like that? Possibly the flyback? Also do cap kits fix dim monitors?

I had a red tent monitor that was also wider at the top and then narrower towards the bottom. In my case it was the yoke that had gone bad which unfortunately is a common failure to see on these XM1801 monitors. The convergence was all messed up as well due to the bad yoke. How's the convergence on yours?

Im not 100% sure. The colors did look a little messed up. Is it possible to fix the yoke. I have a few spare monitors that I could swap pieces from.

The only thing you could do is swap a compatible yoke from another monitor. I picked up a yoke from the arcade boneyard. He has a bunch of parts from different machines he parts out. There isn't a source for the yokes and I haven't seen anyone mention another monitor or whatever that has a compatible yoke other than another XM1801.

Also here's an old pic I took of mine. I had a local guy who's really good with monitors look at it and he couldn't find anything wrong with the chassis. Then I found out that the yoke is a common failure for these monitors so I'm pretty sure that's exactly what this picture represents.
