Red Tent Legs, Using Enamel vs Rechroming (Need Advice)

Long story short. Legs are Rusted, Chroming is not an economic or pratical opition.

Thinking about using an Enamel Chrome Spray and a clear primier. Both made by Dupli-Color.

CP199

Any thoughts on this, or better products I could use other then the above?

Alternative to the chrome would be to try and keep the polished look.
Instead of the Chrome Enamel, use a Clear Enamel "DA1692 - Crystal Clear" over the Clear Primer

Thanks for any input.

Reflective Chrome powder coat. Now you will just need about $500 worth of equipment...

If paint is all you've got then just be sure to do good prep and application. But keep in mind that every scrape and impact will probably damage the finish.

Be prepared to go shop around in person. Every time I'd call those f'n places I'd get the same reply:

"You'll need to bring in your items to get any kind of quote."

And it might cost around the same to get them plated. But for plating the lead time is usually way longer.

Before you rule out plating, might get some quotes. There's a guy who does a lot of this for the pinball hobby, Mike Chestnut. It might not be much more than pro powdercoating. You could find his info if you google search/archives of rec.games.pinball.

I found that the chrome spray paint paint is hardly better looking than silver - it doesn't look like chrome at all.

I would love to get it re-chromed. The problem I have, is I'd want to do it locally. As in some where I could drop it off and pick up later, which I can't.

Id have to mail it halfway across the country to Ontario. Similar distance from Calais to Detroit. It really comes down to me being cheap.

As I understand it, the powder coat is the strongest. The Chroming has the best repulishing surface. Where Enamel is the second strongest, but no pulishing ablity.
