red tent games wont come on...

Kind of a bump since this hasn't been answered. I had this issue with one board but was able to mess with the connectors to get it working. The other time I had a bad chipset (sold to me with pins missing from the chips) and it would only come up with a green screen on one side and black on the other.

Are there any colors coming up? Any glitch stuff? If so any pictures?

i installed three different working boardsets and came up with the same on both sides! i thought it might be a bad boardset but all 3 ?? here's a pic....

you can simply swap it out for a common dc switching power supply, from bob roberts, arcade shop, twisted quarter, etc. Easy and cheap (about $22 plus shipping)

monitor does the same with the board plugged in or not. and i tested the powere right from the board. and i'm pretty sure i tested it right, black lead on the first trace on the board and then counted up on the board traces to find the correct voltage test point with the red. is there a way to test the power supply itself? remember the monitors both work. is that common?

The monitors run off of isolated 100v AC, and the power supply provides DC to the pcb. If your power supply is shot, your board won't run but the monitors will. I would suspect your power supply is at fault if you have no blown fuses (I don't know what a red tent has for fuses).

As for repairing your power supply vs installing a switching power supply...thats up to you. The only difference is the original power supply put out 24vdc for the coin counter which your standard switching power supply won't. The voltages for the pcb will be the same.

I'm very happy with having the switcher inside my vs. I didn't install it., but the process looks super simple...

1. Cut off molex connector going into P.S. (including ac-in)
2. Put u-shaped spade connectors on wires
3. Look at diagram and see what wire is what
4. Screw in u-shaped connectors to appropriate switching power supply terminal.
5. Turn game on
6. Enjoy your nintendo vs. (hopefully) :)

The OP should modify that slightly. Cut the original connectors off, but leave some slack off the original connectors. Put a standard 9-pin molex and 3 pin molex on the harness The slack is so you can put mating connectors with the original PS connectors so that you could switch easily between the factor PS and a switcher.
