Red Deer Auction Results (sept 26)

Looks like the stuff from the op in Reddeer that was trying to sell stuff off on Kijiji a while back. Funny, when I was in his place he wouldn't sell anything that was dedicated for under 600$, and no conversion for less than 300$.. The guy looked so ancient I figured there would end up beeing a liquidation.. Did you see a Juno First cab there? He had pulled it out the second time I was there because I had mentioned it as something I would be interested in on the first visit.. but he gutted it, had no parts other than the cabinet and still wanted 300$.

I'm amazed at how many local ops I've dealt with - (and yes they are certainly old timers in relation to my 38 years) and they want a fortune for a machine that has an inch of dust on it, a burned to hell monitor, a cabinet that is beat to hell but the game itself will actually work. I cannot tell you how many times I've had an OP tell me they have "other" machines like it still on route making money or "I still rent these out and make money". This statement is the equivallent of "might be a fuse".
Yes I can see how people would rent out a machine with bird shit on it and dust so thick you can;t see the screen. Maybe he was referring to the last time the machine saw daylight in 93???

That was one of the worst conversions I'd ever seen. The guy who ended up with it, was going to gut it and MAME it. He had no idea what cab it was.

There are 2 tragedies here:

1. I didn't know about this auction
2. I have the parts to restore a Star Wars cabinet.

Sad.

Ugh

Neo Geo Star Wars

Poor Star wars, poor Pengo, poor Super Pac, poor Mario Bros. Was there anything there that was not converted?

Yeah, the Juno First cab was there, and she was still gutted. Went cheap enough, I'm guessing another MAME cab is in the works.

Yeah, the empty Juno First cab was actually the cheapest item of the entire auction: $2.50! Now that's a payday worth holding out for! And yes, the op I talked to was this tall skinny guy who looked to be in his mid-to-late eighties, so it's probably the same guy.

As for classics that had not been converted, there wasn't much. Off the top of my head: Punch Out!!, Spy Hunter, Paperboy, 720, Kick Man, Crossbow and the other exidy's, and I think that's about it. On the plus side, this guy must've got out before the whole Golden Tee/Buck Hunter craze because I didn't see a single one while I was there. Refreshing, actually...

Where was that advertised? Shame I missed it because there were a few cabs I would have gone for.. just not at his original 300$.. Did he sell all his pin parts?

I picked up my NeoGeo MVS at this one. It wasn't very well advertised and I had only found it by chance. The only people I told were blowback and Dr.Morbis. Who are my only other friends who collect arcade machines, I've got loads of pics from this since I met the Op before the auction the only thing is they were taken with my cellphone so please forgive the crappy quality. Sorry to bring up the old thread I've been kind of dragging my heels abit.

what Lindsey said, wish I woulda known about this one , see a couple grails there, minus the I have the stuff to restore a SW , that I dont have. Shit tester, we could have piled into the white caddy , borrowed the bosses trailer and went up. Calgary/Reddeer guys we gotta keep each other up on this stuff

I agree.. looked at his stuff a while before this and 90% of it was converted and he wanted ridiculous prices... but still, a few nice/rare cabs to restore back to original and a few nice complete games as well. The Exidy cabs were nice as well as a PP, Spy Hunter, Punch Out...
Did anyone on here get the pinball parts? There was some Williams stuff I wanted to get off the guy for my Black Knight (coils, posts..etc..) but when I was talking to him I could never get him to give me a price on any of that.

How does a police force pin go for over $900 at the same auction a punch out and paperboy go for under $200...even if they were non working?

Paperboy was working I remember testing it.

I wasn't really a member before and I had no idea you were in Alberta just the other two.
