I'm having a strange issue with my red and Ted roadshow pinball. Sometimes the game loses the location of the balls when they go in the lock or they drain. It is really odd. I ran the switch diagnostic and all the switches test fine. Has anyone heard of this issue? It gets progressively worse as you play since the game doesn't appear to know where all the balls are located. Usually I have to power down and the game resets and locates the balls and plays fine.

Any suggestions from you gurus on here would be appreciated. This problem is driving me nuts and I can seem to isolate the issue. I've always hated intermittent problems. They're the hardest to troubleshoot and repair!

with out access to any other data, id say lm339 chips on opto board. i'd just socket em and place fresh chips in, then check your ir switches. the lm339 chips are cheap.

also try cleaning the ir outs and ins...

and if that doesnt work, sell me machine... lol i wAnt one

Where are the IR sensors? I only see mechanical switches.

I had similar issues with locking balls in Bob's bunker (Head on down to Bob's lol) The switches all tested fine too. I went through and replaced the switches down there anyways and that took care of the problem for me. I remember one switch hiding pretty well behind the whole assembly, too. :)

I'm going to try this because its driving me nuts. Sounds like we were having the exact same problem.

It was the upkicker switch being out of alignment. The lock didn't know that a ball was in there. I just adjusted the switch and voila it works!! Thanks for the help guys.
