I've lost all red in my monitor. I have a Nintendo 20EZ. It will not show the proper shellcreepers colors on MB, the "floor/land" on Balloon Fight, or any red in Popeye. I even tried using a RGB board, to bypass and still nothing. Time for a cap kit? This would be my first attempt at one. Thanks.

I just recapped both monitors in my PC-10 and shortly thereafter I have an all green screen. tapping on the cabinet reveals that there was cold solder somewhere.... so I reflowed all the transistors on the neckboard, fixed that.

then I did the top monitor, same shit again. but this time it was the inverter board.

so reflow the transistors on the neckboard first, and if there's an inverter board reflow the headers, pots, etc. on it.

do the pots on the neckboard too. lol

I don't think it's very likely that you just lost all those colors suddenly in the tube.

try tapping the side of the cab first. if it goes apeshit, then you're looking at cold solder. additionally, try reseating the RGB header plug (if you have it like that)

Thanks Mecha. I will look for cold joints. This is a monitor that probably hasnt had a cap kit done ever. So I'm sure that I will find some issues, at a closer look.

I just found it weird that I had no problems until I capped them. like none at all, nothing symptomatic of cold solder, and that's what turned up.

these are also a pain to take apart. lol. I think it takes less time to actually cap the bastard than it does to disconnect everything and pull the chassis out of the pushpins.
