A little at a time.
With the receipt of my Disability "back pay", I was able to use a little of the funds to recoup some of my collections that I had to sell off while I was going through the process.
I never sold my Atari consoles, but I did have to let go of a bunch of games that I had bought over the years. I don't know if I'll ever get back to the level of carts I had for the 2600.... or if I even have the interest anymore. But there are some games I think I'll keep on the hunt for.
I did buy an N64, and some games for it. I kept my original boxes, so I could "keep up" with what I had to sell. So far, I've recovered Command and Conquer, Donkey Kong 64, Mario Kart 64, Rogue Squadron(even though I bought the PC version through Steam), Shadows of the Empire(same....), and Super Mario 64. Due to the number of "create-a-wrestler"s that I had on my WrestleMania 2000 cart, I never parted with that. In fact, I still have my old "save cards" with a few dozen more on them. Best WWF/WWE game EVER!
What's bugging me, is that I can't remember how to unlock Donkey Kong, the arcade game, in the DK64 cart. Google hasn't helped.
Stuff to do:
1: Do the power mod on my Atari 5200. I bought a kit for it, just need to actually DO it.
2: Find a useable power supply for my Atari 2600, and work up a "want" list on the games side of things.
3: Find an SNES Classic somewhere. I want that thing, as it's got all the games I enjoy on it. Be a lot cheaper than buying an SNES and the games separately.
Most of my Disability check is going to pay bills. My wife has been carrying us for 4 years while I dealt with this. It's time she uses some of her paycheck on herself. I get an "allowance" out of it.... has to cover my monthly beer supply, and smokes. But I'll have some left over to buy some things here and there.
I am just thankful to be able to recover some of what I had to sacrifice when we needed it.
