so, who has recently? i don't have any records to go for but was thinking of taping a few games and sending them in. the way the recording faq is looking, it appears that you have to pull the back door off, show the boardset, serial # if possible, etc.

i was thinking of sending in a satan's hollow score and really don't want to have to pull out the board sandwich, show that. i would if it's necessary, but it's kind of a long pain in the ass. has anyone that's sent in a recorded score done all this? it would seem to me that if this is just for a lower ranked (i.e. #10, 20, etc.) score and not a world record that it wouldn't be that necessary.

anyways, here's a link to the recording faq.

I don't know if you'd need to pull the board out, but at least open up the back and show it, with a flashlight if needed. Also, I'd put it into test mode and show the difficulty level, since Satan's Hollow doesn't use dipswitch difficulty settings. If you plan on doing a DK score with your cocktail though, good luck...

A while back I submitted a score for Donkey Kong (No hammer challenge) Arcade. All I did was start recording before powering up, entered initials at end of game then I opened back door and showed the insides, PS, wiring (to show no external wiring was involved) and I tried to do a close up of the dips. I think the most important part is showing the dips, however when I watched the play back I couldn't even make out what the dips were set at. I think as long as you are not submitting a "twingalaxies world record" for a major title you shouldn't have anything to worry about. I didn't submit a world record but I beat Brian Kuh's score so that felt good...

I've done a couple scores. The game must start out off, and be turned on. If possible, show the set-up screen with game difficulty settings. Then show it coin-up...it can not be on freeplay. Play your whole game, and keep in mind the picture must show the game-screen (score of course) and your hands on the controls. When done, zoom in and show your final score. Then, without ever turning the camera off, you need to show the entire cabinet...go around to the back...show the boards inside (no need to remove them), and show all the way around the cabinet. The main concern is that there are no external feeds to the machine. Only the power cord.

You could also PM Builttofail - or maybe he'll respond here for an official answer.

There's no reason to take out your pcb. Just make sure to show a slow pan over the board. And be sure to zoom in on the dips, and let it focus. I get lots of videos where they show the board from a few feet back and say "you can see the dips set to blah blah" and I'm thinking "maybe YOU can see the dips." if you have any other questions I'm more than happy to answer them.

Definitely make sure you go over the dips nice and slow and I normally print out the TG settings and go over them aloud while I video the dips so I don't go too fast in terms of recording it.
