Hi;
I am using a dehumidifier running it 24/7 to maintain a 55% humidity level.
I want to make sure that I don't damage my games by keeping the humidity level too low in my games room. As a rule of thumb, what would be the recommended humidity level for maintaining the games without drying them out thereby causing stenciled side art damage, (as well as increased static)?

Thanks
Jeff

Usually, you want indoor RH around 45-50%, so 55% seems reasonable to me; when you get above 60% it would start to encourage mold growth.

My cabinets are in my basement and I have the dehumidifier running 24/7 as well. It's hard to keep it below 55% in the summer, I know! :)

Oh, it definitely isn't too low! My gameroom rarely goes much over 50% without a dehumidifier. I have actually been thinking of getting one to drop it to 45%. So if yours is running 24/7 you might consider getting a 2nd dehumidifier. 45% is the number I settled on after asking and doing some research here. My sense is 40-50% is a pretty decent range. But I'm not exactly an expert so take it for what it's worth.

I have a dehumidifier in my basement and I have it set for 50% RH. I picked it up when I started to see a bit of mold last summer, and it has kept it at bay ever since. I haven't had any issues with damage at 50% RH.

50% here too.

I recently drylok'ed the walls, so the dehumidifier only runs
about 10% of the time. Make sure your rain gutters are
clean and operating. Water spilled along your foundation
will make the walls sweat.

Exact same here, except I aim for 45% (and normally sit around 50% - dehumidifier runs a lot)

wow, humidity. I barely remember what that is. I just looked it up, and here in Reno the relative humidity is 25% today.

I also aim for 45%. So far so good with my new humidifier. It's very comfortable in the basement at 45%.

Whats everyone using for a dehumidifier and how much space (area) are you conditioning ?

When I finished my games room, (basement) I dryloc'ed all the walls just to make sure, then they were painted as well. I also have two pits (wells), in opposite corners of the house with 2 sub pumps per pit, (just in case) and that keeps the water level below my slab thereby keeping the moisture out of the floor.
The reason for my initial inquiry was that even though the level is set for 55%, it seems that it is a little "moist" and now after reading all the responses, (thank you) I see that I am going to have to drop it down a little further. The last thing I want to see is any mold!
I was concerned about the possibility of peeling backglasses and marquees but if the consensus is that there won't be a problem with than happening I am going to drop it down to 45% and see how it goes.
I guess I'm going to have to purchase another dehumidifier as this one is running almost all the time and I don't want to kill it.
Thanks for the link, I'll be checking out Home Depot and Lows and hopefully by the end of the weekend, I'll have my new addition.
Peace
Jeff

You will pay a lot more money for a less quality product if you buy one at home depot or lowes...I'd really recommend buying one from newegg or another online retailer. Costco may be another good source.

I just placed my order for the Fridgedaire, it's rated very high in customer satification and the price cannot be beat. I was checking Lowes and Home Depot and found garbage. I then searched on line and the Fridge is hands down the best for the money.
Thanks for the link!
BTW, it's only $10.00 for next day shipping (says 3 but the estimate is 1). I should have it Monday or Tuesday.
Peace

awesome! yea typically I just use that site for my computer related stuff but for some reason they sell dehumidifiers too! It sounds like it may become the official product for basement arcades!

GOT IT!
Received delivery yesterday and I am very happy with this purchase! Very well built and blows doors on the crap they were selling at Home Depot.
Thanks very much for the link, you saved me mucho dinero and the hassle of shopping around.
Peace
Jeff
