Recently purchase a non-working arcade machine

Well it's one of the Wunderland nickel arcade games, and when I put nickels in the 1st player slot it sounds like they just fall in the cab, and when I put them in the 2nd player slot they actually do fall inside of the cab. It also says that there's one credit, but it still won't start.

I don't know though, I'm already getting kind worn out on it from running back and forth to the store, so maybe I'll just look at it again tomorrow.

you can just flick the coin switch lol might need more than one credit. and Im confused, you said the fuse still blows, is there no monitor picture? how are you seeing theres one credit. Do you know what fuse is blowing??

Well the fuse for the box that the power cord goes into, I'm guessing it's the transistor, blew twice. The first time was with the ACG fuse, and the second time was with the MDL fuse. I tried another slow blow fuse just to see what would happen, and it ended up staying up and running even though it made kind of a pop sound. So now everything appears to be working, it checked all of the roms, had me calibrate the guns and it runs through the titles screen junk with sound and everything.

Whenever I put nickels in nothing happens though, they just fall through the machine, so hopefully that guy sends me the keys soon so I can open it up and check it out.

Okay, so this comes up when I turn it on:

The game title screen comes up just fine, but it just won't let me play. Is this just another easy fix or is it more than that?

Actually it checks all of the roms before this screen comes up, and it doesn't say that any of them are bad. After the screen comes up it tells my that I have to calibrate the guns, and then after I do that it will say that the calibration was successful and then it will go on to the title screen. After about the tenth nickel I put in, it finally gave me a credit, but it wouldn't start. It just keeps yelling, "No way, Jose" at me!

does it need more than one credit? I really don't know much about this but I am trying to help with the basics. Some games take 2 credits to start. Can you drill out the lock switch on the coin door? are you definitly getting keys?? its easier to flick the coin switch till u got credits lol

Uh, is it set up to take nickels? Or tokens? Otherwise, you need to put QUARTERS in it.

Do you get the attract screen at all?

You can drill out the locks if you don't want to wait for keys. This will allow you to access the setup menu, too. The test/service switch should be inside the upper coin door.

he said it was set up for nickels in the previous pages

Yes, it's set up for nickels, I'm not that retarded!

Anyways, I haven't heard from the seller about the key situation, but it was a three day holiday weekend. Locks are cheap enough to replace so I might just start drilling in a little bit here. It only takes one nickel per credit, and after a few nickels one finally registered and it said "1 credit" on the screen.

alright thats cool but try to get it to register 2 - 4 credits. I would be sure thats why it wont start and says no way

EDIT: just tried in mame and it will say no way jose if proper credits arent in the machine

Okay, so I drilled out the lock to get back there so I could find what the problem was, but there was no problem. It was really weird, I opened the coin acceptor door after drilling it out, turned the machine on and then it didn't give me the error screen; it told me everything was okay. So I switched it to free play and played through the entire game!

I kind of feel like an idiot asking you guys for help when it's turns out just simple things were wrong with the machine. But I guess we all have to start out somewhere. Thank you guys for all of your help!

EDIT - Oh and it wasn't giving me credits because the coins weren't hitting the credit switch. There was nothing guiding the nickels into the proper slot, they would just fall down in the cab.

When the CMOS battery begins to die on Midway games it will give you that CMOS error screen.

+1

Check the CMOS battery. On that board its one of those flat lithium batteries about the size of a quarter. If it gives you that error again its the battery going bad.

Places that use special coin mech sizes amost always pull the mechs when the get rid of a game. The need the mechs for all their new games. If you want mechs, you can slap some $.25 mechs in there really easily. Of course you don't need them on free play, but some folks like to drop quarters.

Glad you got it working!

haha glad you got it working, in mame it gives you the CMOS error as well, So I guess you can ignore it? Anyways glad its working

If you need mechs, I have used quarter mechs for $5.00 each or brand new ones from Happ for $10 each.

And I'm really surprised that none of you guys picked up on there are no mechs in there.

As for the fuse blowing situation, can you track down which fuse it is? Or better yet, a photo.

Sorry. Missed the nickel part. Wasn't trying to insult your intelligence.
